The Story of the Competition:
Glovo, MR.D, and CarGo.
Pros and Cons
While Wolt is one of the leading delivery services in Serbia, other platforms are also striving to carve out their place in the market. Below, we’ll examine the main features of Glovo, MR.D, and Cargo, highlighting their advantages as well as their drawbacks.
Glovo
Advantages
- Variety of Services: In addition to food delivery, Glovo often offers the option to purchase and deliver items from supermarkets, drugstores, and even pharmacies.
- Rapid Expansion in Cities: Glovo is present in Belgrade, Novi Sad, and several other major cities, covering a significant portion of urban areas.
- Bonus Schemes for Couriers: During certain hours or high-demand periods, Glovo provides bonuses for active couriers.
Disadvantages
- Limited Intake of New Couriers: They often have strict quotas or “waiting lists,” which can make it difficult for new couriers to join.
- Complicated Scheduling: Couriers must strictly adhere to pre-selected shifts/slots. If you miss or cancel a slot, it can be challenging to secure the next desired time.
- Variable Earnings: Due to the “slot” system and fluctuating conditions, earnings can vary more than with competing platforms.
MR.D
Advantages
- User-FriendlyApp: Manyusers praise its intuitive interface for placing orders and tracking deliverystatus.
- Niche Specialization: Depending on the city, MR.D may have exclusive partnerships with certain restaurants or stores not available on other platforms.
- Promotional Campaigns: The service frequently offers discounts and promo codes for new users.
Disadvantages
- Limited Coverage: It’s still not as widespread in all urban areas, so some parts of the city may be excluded from service.
- Restricted Restaurant Selection: Compared to major players (Wolt, Glovo), MR.D has a narrower range of partner restaurants or stores.
- Fewer Opportunities for Couriers: Couriers might find it harder to reach a high number of orders in a short time, as the network isn’t as large as that of competitors.
CarGo
Advantages
- Multiple Services: CarGo began as a ride-sharing app (similar to Uber) but later added food delivery and other product deliveries.
- Well-Integrated Urban Transport: In Belgrade and some other larger cities, CarGo is already recognized as a transportation option, allowing users to order both rides and deliveries on one platform.
- Promotions for New Users: Free delivery for the first order or a discount on rides often attracts new customers.
Disadvantages
- Limited Restaurant Selection: Although expanding, Cargo Delivery still often provides fewer restaurant or store options than specialized delivery platforms.
- Geographical Restrictions: Availability is mostly limited to Belgrade, while other areas still lack sufficient partner coverage.
- Potential Traffic Jams: Since CarGo also offers ride services, they can sometimes struggle to allocate drivers/couriers if there’s high demand for rides.
